It appears Sen. Susan Collins’s staff released constituent information about a school trip to D.C. to a far-right former representative as part of an effort to falsely smear a Maine high school senior who was critical of Collins.

On Nov. 14, Camden student Pearl Benjamin penned a column in The Camden Herald calling out the newspaper’s owner, local media mogul Reade Brower, for his strangely naive defense of Sen. Collins “the person.”
