Changes to independent contractor bill could rein in affects of legislation – NJBIZ

New Jersey’s top Senate Democrat is proposing a change to a controversial bill reclassifying freelance-workers that would effectively scale back how many people would qualify as employees.

Lawmakers rolled out the measure – Senate Bill 4204 – shortly after November midterm elections. It would reclassify thousands of independent contractors in the state as regular employees.
